Why is your fragrance line called Candy Ass?

How long can I expect my full size rollerball of Candy Ass to last?

Ok so if you wear Candy Ass every damn day, your rollerball will last approx 3-6 months (depending on how often you reapply) before you’ll want to grab a new bottle!

Can my perfume expire?

So here’s the thing – we put a 12 month expiration date on each bottle of Candy Ass to ensure MAXIMUM olfactory fabulousness for you.

The Candy Ass collection is different from most perfumes because our blends are straight FIRE – ahem – straight essential oil, fragrance oil, & carrier oil. AKA – zero preservatives. You’re welcome.

This means you may notice your fragrance’s scent begin to subtly shift the longer you keep it. So like, seriously, go ham getting the most (& best!) out of it.

Also! Remember the Cool, Constant, Dark, & Dry mantra. It’ll help extend the life of your perfume.

What’s the Cool, Constant, Dark, & Dry mantra?

It’s pretty much the fountain of youth for your fragrance.
 

Cool – The fridge is your friend. Perfume is not a fan of extreme environmental changes like going from hot to cold. Big shifts in temperature can set off chemical reactions – especially with essential oils – & age your perfume faster.  
 

Constant – Keep the temperature of your fragrance as constant as possible. 60-70 degrees is ideal AF.
 

Dark – The bottles are black for a reason. Light contributes to breaking down the chemical makeup of fragrance, so keep it out of sunlight & call it a day.
 

Dry – As much as we all love to keep our perfume collection in our bathrooms, extreme humidity & temperature fluctuations don’t exactly make the bathroom a dry place. It’s giving no-no. Choose the fridge, your bedroom, or set up a cute fragrance table in a happy (cool, constant, dark, dry) corner of your home.

Do you have any pro tips for wearing fragrance?

YES. These 3 pointers will have you well on your way to perfume baddieville:

Pulse points + air dry – Roll Candy Ass onto your pulse points of choice (wrists, throat, behind ears, inner elbows, behind knees) & let that yummy ish AIR DRY.

Resist wrist rubbing – For the love of all that is good & aromatic, RESIST RUBBING YOUR WRISTS TOGETHER. It dulls top notes – aka the notes you initially fell in love with! They’re the most delicate molecules in the formula. It also speeds up evaporation (boo!) & can change the way the fragrance smells (hiss!) due to your skin heating up & mixing with your natural oils at an accelerated rate. 

Scentless moisturizer – Apply scentless moisturizer to the areas you roll your fragrance – it helps the scent last longer.

What type of ingredients do you use?

THE GOOD KIND. We use both essential oils & safe synthetic oils to formulate & NEVA allow bullsh!t to enter the chat.

Is Candy Ass safe for sensitive skin?

Our blends are alcohol free, paraben free, preservative free, sulfate free, phthalate free, solvent free, propylene glycol free, petrochemical free, & artificial colors & dyes free.

This said, some folks are sensitive to fragrance on skin no matter what. If you know you’ve got sensitive skin, def do a small patch test first.

I am allergic to traditional fragrances. Can I wear Candy Ass?

The Candy Ass collection is intentionally hypoallergenic. Our blends are alcohol free, paraben free, preservative free, sulfate free, phthalate free, solvent free, propylene glycol free, petrochemical free, & artificial colors & dyes free.

THIS SAID, the only way to be 100 that you won’t have an allergic reaction is to test the fragrance on a small patch of your own skin. Unique bodies react uniquely to fragrance, so if you know you tend toward allergies, proceed with care.

In the early days (when it was just Heather & before JOY RIOT! was even a dream), this review came in from Elizabeth in Bridgewater, MA:

“There is this lovely woman named Heather who saved me! I had to throw away all of my high end perfumes because they had ingredients that I was allergic to. I never thought that I would be able to wear perfume again until she launched Candy Ass! It’s delicious, sugary, chocolatey, & perfectly allergy free. Are your products safe to use while pregnant/nursing?

We formulate our blends to make sure they’re safe for EVERYONE. This said, ask your doctor for their profesh opinion if you’ve got questions regarding the intersection of your pregnancy & personal care items.

WTH – Why can't I smell my fragrance anymore?

Nose fatigue is REAL. Your nose can become desensitized when it gets too used to any scent. Similarly, your brain can adjust to filter out scents to the point that you won’t notice them nearly as much after prolonged exposure.

Everyone else can smell you juuuust fine though, so if you can’t smell yourself after a while, RELAX & resist taking a freakin’ bath in your Candy Ass. Switch up your scent instead. We’ve got 8 to choose from, so you’re GOOD. You’ll find this helps with nose fatigue BIG time!

How many items can I order per month – aka – what’s your max purchase policy?

You can grab 8 of any single item, 20 items total, &/or spend a max of $1500 with us per month. If you wanna increase either amount, contact us at wearejoyriot@joyriot.co.

The JOY RIOT! website is designed to block any orders over the above amounts. If you exceed these limits, your order will be canceled & refunded. Boundaries, boo.

Know too that we hawkeye frequent orders of multiple units in a 1 month span & we reserve the right to reject orders that we suspect are for resale or export.

Bottom line, y’all, is that we have max limits to make sure ALL JOY RIOTers have a fair shot at getting our products.

I purchased perfumes on pre-order – what now?

First of all, THANK YOU. Expect to receive frequent excited AF updates re: when we’re aiming for pre-orders to ship.

If your order ONLY contains a pre-order fragrance, just keep an eye out for shipping dates.

If your order contains a pre-order fragrance AND other regular / in-stock products, know that we hold your ENTIRE order until your pre-order fragrance is ready to ship. Also keep an eye out for shipping dates.

We’re unable to split or combine orders, so if you want some of our all-the-time products without having to wait for a pre-order, def place two separate orders.

Your order only has a shot at being canceled within minutes of placing it, so email us ASAP at wearejoyriot@joyriot.co with CANCEL ORDER in the subject line & your ORDER NUMBER in the body of the email. We’ll do our damndest to help you out!

Our shipping team is FAST, which is why cancellation requests can’t be accommodated 100% of the time – even if you write us immediately after placing your order.

The reason for this is because WE first need to receive your request, then we need to forward it to our warehouse processing team & THEY need to catch it in time too.

We know things come up & will do our best to help! May the odds be ever in your favor.

Can I change the shipping address on my order?

Maybe, baby!

Your order only has a shot at being modified within minutes of placing it, so if there’s an error in your shipping address, email us at wearejoyriot@joyriot.co ASAP with SHIPPING ADDRESS CHANGE in the subject line & your ORDER NUMBER + the CORRECT ADDRESS in the body of the email.

If your order is already on its way to you, grab your tracking details & contact your courier to tell them about the address update.

Can I change the items in my order after I’ve placed it?

Ok, the short answer is no. The reason is because our shipping team begins processing your order at the warehouse immediately after checkout & they’re FAST.

Why can't I check out with some of the items in my bag?

Well it’s not because you aren’t FABULOUS – because WHEW. You ARE. It’s probably because one of the items in your bag is now out of stock.

The product in question was most likely available when you put it in your bag, but by the time your order was completed, it sold out. This is uncommon, but does happen occasionally during launches or sales when we’re experiencing higher demand.

It could also be because of shipping restrictions to your country.

If this is the case, you should see a message pop up to tell you that we’re unable to ship a certain product (or a certain amount of product) to your delivery addy. This is for HAZMAT reasons.

I bought an item that now says it's no longer available – what now?

We’ll refund you + give you the option to put your name & email on our restock waitlist so you can grab it the second it’s back in stock!

Every product on our site is subject to availability & though we work to make sure this doesn’t happen often, it’s def more common during launches & sales when we have higher than normal order volumes & inventory is moving fast.

Why haven’t I received a confirmation email after placing my order?

Good question. First make sure the email addy you entered at checkout is right. If it is, check your junk mail.

If it’s not there either & hasn’t shown up within 1 hour after placing your order, contact us at wearejoyriot@joyriot.co with CONFIRMATION EMAIL in the subject line & your FULL NAME in the body of your email.

We’ll make sure you get what you came for!

Why did I get an email that says my order was unsuccessful?

Likely because of the billing info or payment method provided. Try reordering & double checking that your name & address are correct &/or using a different payment method. In most cases, this works like a charm.

Your card won’t be charged for the original order, but an authorization – aka a temporary hold of funds on your credit/debit card – may happen.

Your bank might hold the funds to make sure there’s enough money available once your order’s confirmed for suresies. There’s also a chance this’ll show as a transaction in your account, but money won’t be taken out of your account.

Since your original order was canceled, this authorization should be reversed within 48 hours. If it’s not or you have further questions, get in touch with your bank & ask away.

United States Crew – Standard Shipping is FREE for orders over $125+.

NOTE: Free shipping is based on your order subtotal. It’s calculated AFTER any discounts have been applied & BEFORE shipping, handling, taxes, or fees are added at checkout (these will not count toward the minimum purchase requirement). This may vary during promotions & sale periods!

International Crew – We do not currently offer free shipping for international orders. We know. SAY YOU STILL LOVE US!

How long will it take to receive my order once it ships?

You can typically expect your order to process & ship next business day.

HowEVA, during peak shipping times, orders can take up to 3 business days to process & ship (promise it’s worth the wait).

Once your order’s shipped, you’ll get a shipping confirmation email with your tracking number. PLEASE BE A GEM & allow 24 hours for tracking to show progress.

ORDERS SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S.

 

Standard Shipping orders can expect delivery within 3-7 business days after your order’s been processed & left our warehouse.

Expedited Shipping orders can expect delivery within 2-3 business days after your order’s been processed & left our warehouse.

Next Day Shipping orders can expect delivery within 1 business day after your order’s been processed & left our warehouse.

ORDERS SHIPPING OUTSIDE THE U.S.

International order time can vary & take longer than orders shipping within the US. Orders sometimes take up to 3 business days to process & up to 2 weeks to deliver after it’s shipped. 

If you live in a more remote area, this can also add to your delivery time.

Another factor is your country’s Customs Authority. They can hold your package (for any reason) for up to 30 days. If this happens, JOY RIOT! does not have the authority to go toe to toe with Customs to speed up your order’s delivery.

How do I track my order?

You’ll get one hell of a JOY-inducing email when your order’s been processed! It’ll include your tracking number, courier, & a trackable link.

I’m international! Are there customs & duties with my order?

International shipments can be randomly chosen for inspection by your country’s Customs Authority. Because of this, you may run into import taxes or customs duties & fees. These taxes, duties, or fees can be imposed once your shipment reaches clearance.

JOY RIOT! does not have the authority to challenge Customs on your behalf. You are responsible for all potential charges for a customs clearance.

What do I do if my package is lost or missing?

Deep breaths! Remain calm!

JOY RIOT! is partnered with Route – the leader in package protection & tracking solutions. Da-da-da-daaaa!

By selecting Route+ at checkout, your order is protected from damage, loss, & theft*. If your order never comes or shows up broken (the audacity), you can easily file a claim in the Route app & receive a replacement OR be fully reimbursed.

We’re honestly THRILLED to offer this service & MEGA recommend that you add Route+ package protection at checkout.


*DAMAGED PACKAGES – Claims for damaged packages need to be filed with photos of the damaged package & item(s) no later than 15 days from when the order was marked delivered.


LOST / STUCK IN TRANSIT PACKAGES – Claims for packages presumed lost (where the status is not delivered) must be filed after 7 days (20 days for international) & within 30 days from the last checkpoint.

STOLEN PACKAGES – Claims for packages marked delivered but not received (where there’s no evidence of porch piracy) must be made 5 days after your delivery date (but no longer than 15 days after) to ensure it wasn’t misdelivered or easily found around the premises. Stolen orders over $100 USD require a police report.

Please follow these steps before taking your claim to Route:

1. Check with neighbors, family members, or your landlord / apartment managers
2. Check all the areas around your usual delivery location
3. Check for notice of attempted delivery
4. Contact the carrier directly for further assistance
5. Contact Route if all else fails!

What’s your return policy?

GIFT IT FORWARD

All perfume sales are final – aka no returns or exchanges (unless your items arrive damaged!)* – because we’re SUPER fans of gifting it forward + not wasting sh!t.

If you try a fragrance & it doesn’t twirl you in a whirlwind of SHEER DELIGHT –

1. Gift it to a friend. Gifting it forward allows the fragrance to live on & be a hit for someone you love – & we are about fostering a spirit of joy & generosity in our community.

2. Health & safety regulations are clear. Returning it to us sends that same fragrance straight to perfume heaven – & we are not about contributing to landfills in our community.

*3. Broken or damaged during shipping is the exception. We’re HAPPY to get you what you came for & make it right! Take clear photos & email them + a screenshot of your confirmation email to us within 48 hours of receiving your order. If eligible, the damaged item will be replaced free of charge.

4. The Candy Ass Discovery Set is your BEST FRIEND. If you’re unsure about purchasing a full-sized fragrance scent-unsniffed, get your happy ass over to the Discovery Set page & DO YOUR THING.

How long will it take to receive my refund?

If you’re waiting for a refund for damaged items, it’ll be processed within X days.

After your refund’s been processed from our end, it can take up to 14 days to reflect with your bank. If you still haven’t received your refund after 14 days, let us know!

My order was unsuccessful, when will I be refunded?

If you get an email from us that says your order was unsuccessful or canceled, it’s UNLIKELY  that money was transferred from your account. Phew.

There IS a chance that an authorization occurred, BUT that’s just a temporary hold on the funds. No money’s been transferred. If this is the case, the hold will be lifted automatically within 48 hours.

NOTE: This could take longer to reflect with your bank. Def call them to gather more info.

What happens to my refund if my card is no longer in use?

Ok, though our M.O. is always to amplify JOY in your world, we can’t refund your order to another card or payment method because we’re not money magicians.

If your card account is still open, your refund will go back on that card. And YES – we CAN process a refund to the card you used even if it’s been lost, stolen, or canceled.

First, check to make sure there were no discounts applied at the time of sale.

Otherwise, just reach out & let us know what you were refunded & what it should have been. And remember to provide screenshots!

Can I exchange my items?

For damaged items, you can either receive a replacement of the exact damaged items received OR receive a refund.

We do not have an exchange policy that allows for exchanging one item with another.

How do I return my items?

If you bought something that you’re not OBSESSIVELY happy with, we encourage you to pay it forward (gift it) to a friend who’ll love it.

We don’t accept physical return of goods, primarily for the purpose of cutting down on waste.

We DO offer refunds (or replacements) ONLY for damaged items. See FAQ “What’s your return policy” for more on this!

What are the terms & conditions of JOY RIOT!’s E-Gift Cards?

1. GENERAL TERMS
E-Gift Cards aren’t refundable or redeemable for cash except as required by law. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

E-Gift Cards can be used at joyriot.co only. You can use the E-Gift Cards to pay for the full value or part of the value of your selected item(s).

E-Gift Cards can only be purchased & redeemed by residents of the United States.

No service fees or expiration dates apply to E-Gift Cards.

We reserve the right to require additional verification of your identity, E-Gift Card or account ownership, or provision of an additional payment method, before you can apply an E-Gift Card to your account or to a purchase.  

2. DELIVERY
If you purchase an E-Gift Card, it will be sent to the recipient’s email address immediately after the purchase is completed or on the delivery date selected. You must provide a correct email address for delivery of the E-Gift Card.

JOY RIOT! is not responsible for E-Gift Cards that are undeliverable or not received from failure to correctly enter the recipient’s email address. Please check to make sure the email address of the recipient is correct.

Sometimes a recipient’s email address is correct, but they do not access the E-Gift Card within a reasonable period after the requested delivery date. The following are the most common reasons this can occur:

The recipient’s spam filter blocked the E-Gift Card email or routed it to a bulk / spam folder.

The recipient’s firewall blocked the email.

The email inbox is over its size limit.

The E-Gift Card exceeds the email inbox size limit.

3. REDEMPTION
​E-Gift Cards can be used as payment for purchases made online at joyriot.co only.

E-Gift Cards cannot be used as payment in retail stores.

E-Gift Cards cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash, except as required by law.

Refunds for damaged items purchased with a JOY RIOT! E-Gift Card will be credited to the original payment method.

4. VALIDITY
Each purchase of a JOY RIOT! E-Gift Card is limited to a maximum value of $500.

The minimum value for a JOY RIOT! E-Gift Card is $25.

E-Gift Cards can be used until the balance of the card is zero. If the balance of the card is zero for three months, the E-Gift Card is invalid & cannot be activated or used again.

E-Gift Cards may not be resold in any manner whatsoever.

JOY RIOT! reserves the right, without notice to you, to void E-Gift Cards without a refund, suspend or terminate customer accounts, suspend or terminate the ability to use our services, cancel or limit orders, & bill alternative forms of payment if we suspect that an E-Gift Card is obtained, used, or applied to a joyriot.co account fraudulently, unlawfully, or otherwise in violation of these Terms & Conditions.

5. EXPIRATION AND SERVICE FEES
E-Gift Cards have no expiration date or service fees.

6. VIEW YOUR BALANCE

7. RETURNS
You cannot return or cancel your JOY RIOT! E-Gift Card after it’s received.

​8. LIMITATIONS
Promotional offers & discounts can’t be applied to the purchase of E-Gift Cards & purchases of E-Gift Cards will not be used to satisfy promotional thresholds. E-Gift Cards also cannot be used towards the purchase of E-Gift Cards.

9. RISK OF LOSS
Ownership & risk of loss with respect to E-Gift Cards passes to the purchaser once we send an email notification to the recipient. 

10. CUSTOMER SERVICE
If you need assistance of any kind concerning the purchase, ownership, or use of a JOY RIOT! E-Gift Card, contact wearejoyriot@joyriot.co. Please be ready to provide your order number or email address.

11. DISPUTES
Any dispute or claim relating in any way to E-Gift Cards will be resolved by binding arbitration, rather than in court, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if your claims qualify. The U.S. Federal Arbitration Act & U.S. federal arbitration law apply to this agreement.

There is no judge or jury in arbitration, & court review of an arbitration award is limited. However, an arbitrator can award on an individual basis the same damages & relief as a court (including injunctive & declaratory relief or statutory damages), & must follow these terms & conditions as a court would.

To begin an arbitration proceeding, you must send a letter requesting arbitration and describing your claim to our registered agent. The arbitration will be conducted by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its rules, including the AAA’s Supplementary Procedures for Consumer-Related Disputes. The AAA’s rules are available at www.adr.org or by calling 1-800-778-7879. Payment of all filing, administration, & arbitrator fees will be governed by the AAA’s rules. You may choose to have the arbitration conducted by telephone, based on written submissions, or in person at a mutually agreed location.

WE & YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS & NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than in arbitration, we each waive any right to a jury trial. We & you also agree that you or we may bring suit in court to enjoin infringement or other misuse of intellectual property rights.

12. ADDITIONAL TERMS
You agree that the laws of the State of California, without regard to principles of conflict of laws, will govern these Terms & Conditions & any dispute that may arise between you & JOY RIOT!. All Terms & Conditions are applicable to the extent permitted by law. If any of these terms & conditions are deemed invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that unenforceable term will be deemed severable & will not affect the validity & enforceability of any remaining terms & conditions.

What payment methods can I use?

Klarna currently accepts all major debit & credit cards (Visa, AMEX, Discover, Mastercard). Prepaid cards are not accepted. Neither are winks, shimmies, or high fives, but don’t let that stop you from trying!

How safe is it?

Klarna has solid anti-fraud controls in place to protect you & prevent dodgy AF peeps from making unauthorized purchases.

Does where I’m located impact my ability to use Klarna?

Yes. Klarna is not currently available for JOY RIOTers living in Hawaii, New Mexico, US Territories (excluding Puerto Rico), or those with APO/FPO/DPO addresses.

What happens if I don't pay for my order / have trouble making payments on time?

DOOM! JK. Klarna will automatically attempt to collect payment for your purchase from the card you entered at checkout.

You’ll see when your payments will be collected in the email you receive at the time of purchase or by logging into your Klarna account.

If you need extra time to make a payment, just log into the Klarna app, go to the “Purchases” page, select “Payment Options,” & “Extend Due Date.”

If the automatic payment fails, Klarna will try again after 7 days. If this payment also fails, Klarna will make another attempt after another 7 days (14 days after the first attempt).

If you need more help, just reach out to Klarna’s customer service team and they’ll be happy to look into your options. You can contact them 24/7 (so good, right?) in the Klarna app or at klarna.com.

Oh, & GOOD NEWS – your credit score will not be impacted even if you haven’t paid on time.

Are there late fees?

Yes, but they’re in the single digits! A late fee of up to $7 may be charged if an automatic payment can’t be collected. Check out Klarna’s terms for full details.

Will using Klarna affect my credit score?

NOPE. When you choose 4 interest-free payments, Klarna may perform a soft credit check, but that will not impact your credit score or show up as a hard inquiry on your credit report.

What if I need a refund for a product that was damaged in transit?

We got you. JOY RIOT! processes refunds for Klarna orders exactly like orders made with other payment methods.

Once you’ve emailed us pics of your damaged items & your refund is initiated, we’ll send a refund transaction to Klarna where they’ll adjust your payment plan accordingly.
